Sitting in the colourful glass-fronted lounge room or on the wide deck of one of Bear Gully's cottages, there's plenty to see, and none of it spoiled by human habitation. There's the waters of Waratah Bay, the hills of Wilsons Promontory in the distance and groups of islands in between. Go for a walk and discover rock pools, a swimming beach, abundant bird life in the coastal vegetation but most of all, peace and quiet.
You're far from civilisation but not from comfort. The cottages are private, and gorgeous in their seaside blues and whites with big windows under soaring roofs to maximise the sensational views. Contemporary design, and plenty of room for four people are the highlights, but you're just as likely to end up outside swinging in a hammock, or exploring the open spaces.
 The big news is the opening of The Rookery, a three-bedroom house that can sleep groups of up to 10. Every bit as breezy as the cottages, with a huge kitchen, spacious patio and a lovely upstairs bedroom, it perfectly complements the surrounding serenity.
